In addition to their “frequent fliers”, Phoenix Children’s Hospital alone sees more than 200 new chronically ill children each month. The Child Life Specialists have conveyed to us that they can easily provide us with 10 children per month. We have met with St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix and they are interested in partnering with Room for Joy and can also provide us with 10 children each month. That is 20 children per month from just two hospitals in a city filled with countless hospitals. With so many chronically ill children and no other organization in Arizona providing the services that Room for Joy provides, the need for Room for Joy is critical.
Over the past three years, Room for Joy has developed a business model that has proven to be very successful. As we move to a full-time ministry, we are expanding to meet the immediate needs of children in the Phoenix Metropolitan area. Room for Joy is presently operating out of a building generously donated to us in Gilbert. With the majority of the space being a warehouse, we have the capacity to build several rooms simultaneously. We are currently prepared to design two to three rooms per month if fully funded and build up to six rooms at one time within the next two years.
Your investment through a donation to Room for Joy will provide for the children here in the Phoenix regional area. The need is now. In the years ahead, once we are maintaining excellent service to the needs of the children in our communities, we plan to expand our operation to the cities of Tucson, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and San Diego. Individuals and organizations in each of these cities have expressed an interest and desire for Room for Joy to provide our services and are willing and able to help us in a variety of capacities. Eventually, we would be honored to bring Room for Joy to other cities throughout the entire United States.
In many instances, we have walked into scarcely furnished homes due to the fact that the parents needed to sell their furniture in order to pay medical bills. We are continuously overwhelmed by situations like this and are always humbled at the self-sacrificing love these parents have for their children. Room for Joy desires to provide parents the opportunity to see their child’s dreams come true even if they personally are unable to fulfill those dreams due to the financial strain they are enduring.
Imagine the look on a child’s face the first time they walk into the bedroom they have always dreamed of. Like a 6 year old boy opening the door to his very own Yankee Stadium. A 7 year old girl surrounded by a fairytale land filled with castles and princesses. Now imagine the pure joy and excitement that such a bedroom could bring to these children after returning home from a painful chemotherapy session or hospitalization from yet another surgery. From the discomfort of being in the hospital to the warmth and infinite possibilities of a bedroom designed around everything they love and dream about.
